Biography

Spanish cyclist José Ramón Goyeneche had a strong start to his career, finishing third overall at the 1963 edition of the Milk Race in England, including finishing second on three individual stages. The following year Goyeneche won silver in the 100 kilometres team time trial at the UCI Road World Championships. One month later he was part of the quartet that placed eighth in the same event at the Tokyo Olympics. He then turned professional, winning the overall classification of the Cinturón a Mallorca in 1966. Goyeneche also rode in the 1967 Tour de France, as well as two editions of the Vuelta a España.
