Czechoslovak cyclist Jiří Háva specialised in road stage races, winning the overall classification at both the Tour of Slovakia and the Tour of Bulgaria in 1965. The following year Háva became the national road race champion, in addition to riding in the Peace Race. He won a further stage of the Tour of Bulgaria in 1967 before finishing fourth overall in the Peace Race in 1970. After winning his second Tour of Slovakia title in 1971, Háva was selected to compete in the road race at the 1972 München Olympics, where he finished 41st in the main peloton of riders. In his final competitive year he had multiple top-10 stage finishes at the Milk Race in England. Sadly, Háva was only 31-years-old when he died in November 1976.
