Willner Rivas was a Venezuelan volleyball player who competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He began playing for the national team in 2015, helping them win gold medals at the 2017 Bolivarian Games and the 2025 Pan-American Cup. At the club level he began playing in 2013 for Distrito Capital but then played with multiple teams, including Lausanne University Club, Afyon, Tannourine, Police Union, Gigantes del Sur, Police Union, Narbonne, Al-Qadisiya, and Cisterna Volley.
Rivas’ career sadly ended in 2026, when on 24 June 2026 huge earthquakes struck northwestern and central Venezuela. Rivas and his wife and young son went missing after the collapse of their home in La Guaira during the earthquake, and the entire family was found dead in that home on 5 July 2026.
