Born in Plymouth, England, Mick Horgan was a member of the Maryland Wheelers in Belfast and represented Ireland at the Olympics in track cycling. Horgan rode in the 1,000 metres time trial at the 1960 Roma Olympics where he finished in 24th place. He also rode in the sprint event but finished in last place in both his heat and the repêchage. Horgan later moved to the United States where he worked as a mechanical engineer in Manhattan. As well as cycling, he was a keen golfer and moved to Myrtle Beach in 1998 to play the sport after his retirement.
