Turkish Alpine skier Berkin Usta first took to the slopes when he was two-years-old, eventually joining the Bursa 16 Sports Club some years later. In 2017 Usta competed in the giant slalom at the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Turkey, placing 21st. He continued to represent the national team for the next few years, eventually earning a spot at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, placing 43rd in the giant slalom. In March 2025 Usta and his father were tragically killed in a hotel fire at a ski resort in Uludağ. He was only 24-years-old.
