In both 1915 and 1920 Christian Johansen finished second at the Danish Championships in the road time trial. The latter result earned Johansen a place on the Olympic team for the 1920 Games in Antwerpen. His 11th place finish in the road race was the best performance by a Dane, resulting in Denmark finishing fourth in the combined team race. He also competed at the 1924 World Championship road race, finishing 17th.
