Biography

Ritchie Johnston was New Zealand champion in the tandem sprint in both 1954-55, before placing fifth at the 1956 Olympics with his brother Warren Johnston. After the Olympics Ritchie Johnston turned to the roads, winning the 1957 New Zealand Road Championship. He competed at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in the road race, but did not finish.
