Track cyclist Lucjan Józefowicz was a 14-time Polish champion, winning titles in the 4,000 metres individual pursuit (1958, 1960–62, 1964), 4,000 metres team pursuit (1958, 1960–61, 1965–66), 1,000 metres (1959–60, 1962), and the 50 km (1959). Józefowicz rode at seven editions of the World Championships (1958, 1961–66) and in the 4,000 metres individual pursuit at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He set multiple national records on the track with his speciality being in the 4,000 metres where he broke the record on ten occasions. In addition to setting track records from distances ranging from 1,000 metres to 50 km, Józefowicz also set a national record in the hour race in 1959 when he rode 42.020 km.
After retiring from the track Józefowicz became a coach working with other track cyclists including Mieczysław Nowicki. Józefowicz later worked as a taxi driver from 1984 to 1994 and was awarded with the Honoured Master of Sports.
