During the late 1960s and early 1970s cyclist Gholam Hossein Koohi won several races in his native Iran, also representing the national cycling team. In 1972 Koohi competed on both the road and track at the München Olympics, finishing 22nd in the team pursuit and 32nd in the team time trial. Two years later he won gold in the team road race and silver in the individual road race at the Asian Games in Tehran. Koohi returned to the Olympics in 1976, once again riding on both the road and track in Montréal, this time placing 24th in the team time trial. After his competitive career he later worked as a coach and became a member of the technical committee of the Iranian Cycling Federation.
