Biography

On either side of World War I, road cyclist František Kundert competed at the Olympic Games. From 1911 to 1913 Kundert won three consecutive national road race championships in Bohemia, in addition to finishing second in 1914. He represented Bohemia at the 1912 Stockholm Games in the road race but was one of the first cyclists to drop out of the gruelling 315 km (196 miles) time trial event.

After the war Kundert then represented Czechoslovakia, becoming the Czechoslovak national road race champion in 1920. In the same year he finished 39th in the road race at the Antwerpen Olympics and ninth in the combined team event. Kundert made his third and final appearance at the Olympics four years later when he competed in the road race at the 1924 Paris Games.
