Biography

French cyclist Claude Lechatellier began his career in 1962, with his breakthrough coming three years later when he finished second at the Tour de l’Yonne. Shortly afterwards Lechatellier was part of the French quartet that won bronze in the team time trial at the UCI Road World Championships in San Sebastián. After a few wins at smaller races at home he was then selected to ride in the team time trial at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, where France placed 15th. After riding as an amateur for a few more years Lechatellier tuned professional in 1974, riding in that years’ edition of the Vuelta a España. At the end of the year, however, his team folded, with Lechatellier returning to the amateur ranks before retiring at the end of 1975.
