Biography

Track cyclist Robert Lechner won the bronze medal in the 1,000 metres time trial event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics representing West Germany. In 1986 and 1988 he won the national title in this event. Lechner later also took part in road and mountain bike events. He later turned to coaching and owned a bicycle shop in Ruhpolding.

Lechner declared in an interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitungin 2008 that he used doping substances during his active career, with the knowledge of doctors employed by the German Cycling Federation.
