Badminton player Oliver Pongratz was eliminated in the first round of the men’s singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Domestically, he played with FC Langenfeld and won the German national singles title every year from 1993-99. He also won several international tournaments. Pongratz later became a badminton coach and was chief national coach in Austria between 2016-21, and then held the same post in Sweden.
