Belgian road cyclist Jef Lowagie competed during the interwar period and participated at two Olympic Games. Lowagie finished 13th in the individual time trial at the 1928 Amsterdam Games, just behind two of his compatriots Jean Aerts and Pierre Houdé, who finished 11th and 12th, respectively. Lowagie’s best year was undoubtably 1933 when he became the Belgian amateur champion on the road and finished third at the amateur World Championships. Three years later he returned to the Olympics for the 1936 Games in Berlin. While he finished the road race, his time was not recorded, but the combined times from his teammates resulted in Lowagie winning bronze in the team event.
