Biography

After winning the 1952 edition of the Giro del Mendrisiotto and finishing third at the Zürich Championship, cyclist Fausto Lurati earned a place at the Helsinki Olympics. Lurati competed in the individual road race where he placed 50th, nearly 20 minutes behind the race winner. After the Olympics he came third in the individual pursuit on the track at the 1954 Swiss Championships before winning the Tour de Berne one-day race in 1956. That same year Lurati also rode in the Tour de France but abandoned the race on the second stage.
