Vittorio Marcelli was a former Italian road cyclist. He was World Amateur Champion in the road race in 1968, and then raced as a professional from 1969 to 1970. He twice won bronze medals in the team time trial at the Worlds, in 1967-68, also adding a bronze medal in that event at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics.
Turning professional in 1969 with Sanson, Marcelli’s career was hampered by a serious knee problem that forced him to retire after only two seasons. He raced the 1969 Giro d’Italia, finishing 64th, and the 1970 Tour de France, although he did not finish. In 1969 he was runner-up at the Castrocaro Terme-Forlì Grand Prix and was fifth in the Trofeo Baracchi time trial. After retiring, he and his brother managed a bike shop near Avezzano, which bears Vittorio’s name.
