Cyclist Michael Marx was on the West German pursuit team at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics that narrowly won the bronze medal ahead of Italy by 1.30 seconds. He also won two team pursuit World Championship medals, silver in 1982, and gold in 1983, when he also won the national road team time trial title with Berlin RC Schüler Derby. By profession, Marx was a freelance trade agent and later owned a sports club in Berlin.
