Cyclist Paul Maue, father of 1984 Olympian Michael Maue, was part of the German road race team that finished fifth at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Individually he finished 48th. Maue was the 1954 German Road Race Champion, and in 1955 he won the Berlin Stage Race. He then turned professional but rode only for two seasons before retiring.
