Cyclist Paul Maué, father of 1984 Olympian Michael Maué, was part of the German road race team that finished fifth at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics. Individually he finished 48th. Maué was the 1954 German Road Race Champion, and in 1955 he won the Berlin Stage Race. He then turned professional but rode only for two seasons before retiring. He later took over his father’s construction company following his father’s early death.
