Latvian sportsman Mārtiņš Mazūrs was a man of many talents, with him competing in figure skating, motorsports, boxing, rowing, and cycling. It was in the latter that Mazūrs had the most success, including winning five editions of the Zemgale race. In 1936 he set a Latvian record in the 50 km distance and competed in the road race at the Berlin Olympics. After World War II Mazūrs spent some time in exile in the gulag but later returned home, riding in the Unity Race at the age of 80.
