Negousse Mengistou was an Ethiopian cyclist who represented his country at two Olympic Games. In 1956 Mengistou competed in the individual road race at the Melbourne Games; however, he was involved in a crash with the Australian rider Jack Trickey, with both forced to abandon the race. Four years later Mengistou returned to the Olympics for the 1960 Games in Roma where he rode in the 100 kilometres team time trial, with Ethiopia placing 28th out of the 32 teams that started.
