Cyclist Rainer Müller, and his longtime partner Jürgen Barth, won the Tandem World Championship in 1970, and also finished second at the Worlds in 1969 and 1971. The pair also won four West German national titles between 1968-72. They were eliminated in the tandem quarter-finals at the 1972 München Olympics. Müller later became a businessman within the packaging industry.
