Biography

Swedish cyclist Lars Nordwall finished third in both the road race and the individual time trial at the national championships in 1951. One year later Nordwall once again finished third in the road race, but was also part of the trio of riders that won the national relay championship. These results earned him a place on the Olympic team for the 1952 Helsinki Games, where he competed in the individual road race, finishing fourth in the combined team placings.

Nordwall won two more national titles with back-to-back wins in the individual time trial in 1954 and 1955. He had the most success of his career during these two years, winning stage races in Denmark and Belgium, along with the overall classification at the 1955 edition of the Tour of Austria. In 1956 he finished third in road race at the national championships to earn himself another place at the Olympics. This time Nordwall finished 10th in the individual road race at the Melbourne Games in a group of riders just over two minutes behind the race winner.
