During the 1950s cyclist Petre Nuță competed at multiple editions of the Tour of Romania, winning two stages early in his career. Nuță first rode in his home race in 1950, finishing sixth on stages six and seven to finish 14th overall in the general classification. The following year he won another stage of the race, finishing fifth overall. These performances earned him a place on the Olympic team for the 1952 Helsinki Games, where he competed in the individual road race but did not finish the course.
Nuță had his best performance at the Tour of Romania in 1953, winning the second stage of the race, in addition to finishing second overall. For the next two editions he finished sixth before coming 10th in 1956. His final participation in the race came at the end of his career in 1960, finishing 55th.
