In the mid-1940s Swedish cyclist Åke Olivestedt won three team time trial titles at the national championships in addition to becoming the individual time trial champion in 1946. These results earned Olivestedt a place on the cycling team for the 1948 London Olympics. He finished 24th in the road race, helping Sweden to finish fifth overall in the combined team event.
