Silvio Pedroni had a long career that predated World War II, marked by a victory in 1939 at Astico-Brenta. After the war he won the Grand Prix de Genève and Milano-Tortona in 1947, before placing second at the 1947 World Championship amateur road race. In 1948, in addition to his Olympic appearance, Pedroni placed fifth at the World Championships in the road race, and then turned professional. In the peloton he was a domestique with no major victories. He rode the Tour de France in 1949-51, but never finished. He raced six times (1949-51, 1953-55) at the Giro d’Italia, with a best finish of 10th in 1949. Pedroni also raced the Vuelta a España in 1955 and the Tour de Suisse in 1952.
