Biography

Arvid Pettersson was a sergeant in the engineers corps. At the age of just 17 he won his first major race, the 1910 Skandisloppet (Scandinavian Race) in Uppsala. In June 1912, he placed third in the race round Lake Mälaren, the Swedish trial for the Olympic Games in Stockholm. In the Olympic time trial one month later, he had to retire between Strängnäs and Eskilstuna, about one third into the race. His last documented result was an eighth place at the Nordic championship one year later.

Pettersson married Mia Augusta Lind. She gave birth to twin brothers.
