Hans Pfenninger competed in cycling in two Olympics for Switzerland. Between Olympics he competed at the Swiss Championship in individual pursuit three times, finishing fourth in 1950, second in 1951, and winning the title in 1952. In 1953 he would complete his podium positions with third place in the Swiss Championship, and that year he rode on the winning Swiss team pursuit champion. In 1952 he also finished second in the Bienne-Macolin road race. He had a brief professional career in 1954, competing at the Zürich Championship, in a six-day event in Zürich, and riding the Tour de Suisse, which he did not finish.
