Biography

Charles Rabaey first reached the podium in cycling at the Belgian national championships in 1959, when he won bronze in the team pursuit, 4,000 metres event. This was sufficient for him to be selected to represent his country in that event at the 1960 Rome Olympics. There, Belgium was eliminated in round one. The following year, Rabaey captured gold at the nationals and, after failing to reach the podium in 1962, turned professional in 1963 with Marcel Kint-Reno. After coming in second in the team pursuit that year, he had one more professional season with Terrot-Leroux before retiring from active competition.
