For more than two decades competitive cyclist Aubrey Richmond represented Guyana at international events. In the 1970s Richmond rode at the Pan American Games in Mexico (1975) and Puerto Rico (1979), as well as at the 1979 Goodwill Games in Moskva. In 1984 he made his début at the Olympics, riding in the points race on the track. Eight years later he returned to the Olympics, this time competing on both the road and track at the 1992 Barcelona Games. Richmond also had the honour of being the flagbearer for Guyana at the Opening Ceremony.
Richmond later moved to the United States where he became a three-time US National masters champion. He had further success in the masters category, winning gold at the World Masters in Sydney in 2009, followed by silver in 2017 in Auckland. He was still racing into his 60s, winning gold in the 60-64 age category at the 2017 USA Cycling Masters Road Nationals in Augusta, Georgia.
