Biography

Romanian cyclist Emil Rusu began his career in 1961, earning a place on the national team just two years later. From 1964 to 1968 Rusu won 10 titles on the road and track at the national championships. He also finished fourth in the 100 kilometres team time trial at the 1964 World Championships, along with ninth in the same event at the Tokyo Olympics. His best result came in 1967 when he won the overall classification at the Tour of Romania. The following year Rusu was once again part of the Romanian team for the Olympics, riding on both the road and track at the Mexico City Games.
