Biography

As an amateur cyclist Fernand Saivé finished third at the Belgian national road championships in 1923 before finishing second one year later. In 1924 he also won the national cyclo-cross title, earning himself a place on the Olympic team. At the Paris Games he finished 16th in the individual road race, with his Belgian compatriots placing high enough overall to win silver in the combined team event. Saivé was also part of the quartet that won bronze on the track in Paris in the 4,000 metres team pursuit. Two years later he rode in the Tour de France, finishing fourth on stage 16 of the race, and 32nd overall in the final general classification.
