Biography

Czechoslovak cyclist Josef Šídlo won several national track titles during his career, including the points race in 1928 and three sprint titles (1929, 1931–32). Šídlo was also the national record holder in the 1,000 metres time trial from 1929 to 1937. Despite being a track specialist, he competed in the individual road race at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, finishing almost one hour behind the winner in 46th. Šídlo was also an architect who designed and built the Velodrome Trebešín near to Praha in 1941.
