Geoff Smith finished ninth in the tandem sprint cycling at the 1960 Roma Olympics, alongside Ian Browne. Smith competed for the Brunswick Cycling Club and was Brunswick champion on the track in 1961 and 1962. He was known for his acceleration. A cyclist to the end, Smith died in his spandex kit, while training on rollers.
