Biography

Achille Souchard had won at Paris-Évreux in 1920 prior to the Olympics and also placed third that year at the French Amateur Road Championship. He won several amateur races in 1922-23, including the French Road Championship both years and then turned professional. He rode the Tour de France for the only time in 1924 but did not finish. Souchard was French professional champion on the road in both 1925-26, and his other professional victories included the 1925 Critérium des As, the 1926 Circuit de Paris, and the 1929 Paris-Laigle race.
