Danish cyclist Poul Sørensen enjoyed some success during the 1920s when he became the national champion in both the road race and individual time trial in 1926 and 1927. These performances earned him a place on the Olympic team for the 1928 Amsterdam Games, where he won gold in the combined team event whilst finishing 28th overall in the individual road race. After the Olympics he finished second at the national championships in both the road race and time trial in 1929, in addition to winning the team ranking at that years’ Nordic Championships. Sørensen was only 44-years-old when he died in July 1951.
