András Takács won 24 Hungarian championship titles on road and one on track. Through 2016, he and László Bodrogi are the only Hungarian cyclists to compete in three Olympics. Takács competed at 1968 Mexico City, 1972 München, and 1980 Moskva, and Bodrogi at 1996 Atlanta, 2004 Athina, and 2008 Beijing. At the München Games, Takács placed sixth with the Hungarian team time trial. He was also a decent speed skater, Hungarian allround champion in 1976 and 1977, and competed in the European Championships in 1970.
