Biography

Ignác Teiszenberger started his sports career competing in the Kispest-Szent-Lőrinczi Bicycle Circle. As a member of Törekvés SE, he won the second Olympic trial race organized on the Budapest-Eger-Budapest route and as a result was selected to compete in the road race of the Stockholm Olympics. There he finished 75th in the individual road time trial and 12th with the Hungarian team. In addition to his cycling career, he was also an acknowledged track and field athlete.

In 1931, Teiszenberger Hungarianised his name to Tárnok. He worked as an electrician. With his wife Margit (née Patay) he had three daughters and two sons.
