Biography

Alfred Tonello finished 13th in the individual road race at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, helping France to win bronze in the combined team event. The following year Tonello won the Tour de l’Oise, in addition to making his début at the Tour de France, where he just missed out on a win after finishing second on stage 14. He rode in two more editions of the Tour and won a stage of the Tour of Catalonia in 1956.
