Before his Olympic appearance, Aimé Trantoul rode in the French Road Race Championship in 1927, placing seventh. But in that year he did win at Paris-Dreux, and Paris-Chartres. Riding as an amateur for the Vélo Club de Levallois for several years after the Olympics, in 1930 he placed second at Paris-Rouen and Paris-Évreux. He was a small man, but very strong, called in the French papers “le minuscule Trantoul.”
