Johan Traxler was a top Austrian road racer in the early 1980s, but recorded few wins, despite being a fairly good sprinter. He competed in the Tour d’Autriche every year from 1979-88, with a best placement of third in 1980. He was second in the points competition at the Tour d’Autriche in 1980 and 1983. At the Austrian road championships, Traxler placed second in 1983 and third in 1982. Traxler was killed during a mountain bike touring ride.
