Road cyclist Jürgen Tschan finished eighth with the West German 100 km Time Trial Team at the 1968 Mexico Olympics. He also participated in the road race and finished 45th. The following year he won the classical “Around Cologne” race and then turned professional. In 1970 he was the first German to win the Paris-Tours Classic. In 1972 and 1973 Tschan competed in the Tour de France, finishing 42nd and 37th, respectively. Later he rode six-day-races. In an interview in 2014 he stated that “doping was a normal thing for all of us cyclists”.
