Biography

In 1919 Arie van der Stel was part of the team that won the Dutch club cycling championships, earning himself a place on the Olympic team. Van der Stel then finished 27th in the road race at the 1920 Antwerpen Games and helped the Netherlands to finish sixth in the combined team event. He also rode in the 50 kilometres event on the track but did not finish the race. Van der Stel was 91-years-old when he died in January 1986.
