Described as a “natural talent”, Italian cyclist Tolmino Gios first came to note when he won the 1936 edition of the Coppa del Re one-day amateur race in Milano. Gios was then scheduled to ride at the World Championships in Bern and the Berlin Olympics but missed both due to a difference of opinions with the national team coach. After his disappointment of missing out on two major races Gios then rode as an amateur for the Legnano team before joining SC Vigor in the late 1930s. After the war he founded the Gios racing bicycle manufacturing company in Torino.
