In 1928, Lew Wyld, along with his brothers Harry, Percy and Ronald, won the National Team Pursuit Championship. It was the third consecutive title for the “Wyld Four” as they were known. That same year, Lew, Percy, Harry and Monty Southall took bronze in the team pursuit at the Amsterdam Olympics. Two months before the Games, Lew and Syd Cozens lost to Jack Sibbit and Ernest Chambers in the NCU Mile Tandem Championship final. Sibbit and Chambers went on to win Olympic silver while Lew and Syd were reserves for the Amsterdam race. Wyld was the NCU 25-mile champion in 1925, and the Derby & Notts Centre mile champion the following year. He was beaten by his brother Percy, by half-a-wheel, in the 10-mile Championship in 1929. Like his other brother Harry, Lew served in the Derby police, before moving to the Manchester force.
Name also seen as Leonard Arthur Wyld, but this is not correct per FreeBMD and family trees. Leonard Arthur Wyld born in 1906 in London died as an infant in 1907.
