Biography

The career of Franceco Zucchetti began in one-day races in 1922 but, the following year, he turned to the track racing with some very good results. At the 1924 Olympics, he won the gold medal in the 4,000 metres team pursuit, which was the most important victory of his career. That same year Zucchetti also won the Warsaw GP and Cologne Bol d’Or. In 1925 he won the silver medal in the Italian Sprint Championships at Padova, and then won the title the following year. He turned professional in 1927 and moved to the United States where he won many track events and took part in six-day races.
