Biography

In 1949 Danish cyclist Wedell Østergaard became the national amateur champion in the road race, finishing second in the same event in 1950 and 1952. The results earned Østergaard a place on the Olympics team for the 1952 Helsinki Games, where he came 37th in the individual road race. During the 1950s he was a regular competitor in the Peace Race, riding in seven editions throughout his career.
