Jules Macaire was one of the three ever-presents in the French team at the 1924 Olympics. He played at number two in each of the four heavy defeats as France finished fifth and last in the round-robin series. One of those defeats was 15-1 by Spain yet, seven weeks after the Olympics, he was in the France team that beat Spain in the final of the Coupe des Nations at Deauville. As well as having his own team, Jules played for many teams in France and in 1931, playing for Les Diables, won both the Molyneux Cup and Capel Cup at Biarritz. He also won the Paris International Tournament and Paris Open. Jules Macaire started a famous French polo dynasty. His son Jacques and grandsons Lionel and Stéphane were all top players and the 8-handicap Lionel was regarded as the best ever French polo player.
