George Atkinson competed in the 1908 motorboating competition in the A-Class onboard the Wolseley-Siddeley, alongside Winchester Clowes, Joseph Laycock, and Hugh, Duke Westminster. The boat failed to finish the event when it ran aground near Hamble Bouy as the tide was rescinding on Southampton Water on the third lap of the second race . In 1899, Atkinson is known to have raced a yacht called Zeila, but nothing else is known of his life.
