Charlie Marshall was the very last captain of Devonport Albion. He skippered the side in the 1913-14 season before football ceased following the outbreak of World War I, and after the War the Albion merged with Plymouth RUFC to form a new club, Plymouth Albion. A hard-hitting forward, Marshall worked as a joiner in the Devonport dockyard. He wasn’t a member of the County Championship winning Cornwall team at the beginning of 1908 but did play for the county in their two matches against Australia, at Camborne and then three weeks later at the White City in the London Olympics.
