Valborg Bjurstedt’s father was a major in a dragoon regiment. When she was less than two years old, the family moved to Kristiania (Oslo). Her sister Molla Bjurstedt-Mallory was the bronze medalist at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics. In 1917 Valborg married Swedish tennis player Hans Andreas Hals (1872-?) and the couple settled in Stockholm. Their daughters Anne Cathrine (1917-2001) and Lilleba (officially Benedicte, 1919-2005) were also tennis players. Lilleba became a 12-time Swedish champion.
Valborg won the King’s Cup, the ladies’ singles championship, in 1913, 1915 and 1916. In addition, she won five titles each in the ladies’ doubles (1910-14) and the mixed doubles (1910-13, and 1915).
